Every now and then, I get a reminder of why I became a physician.

Every now and then, I get a reminder of why I became a physician. Those rare moments when I think I’ve made a difference.

This time, my patients are having that moment.

Our patient’s generosity in creating a Go Fund Me page has allowed Bent Tree Family Physicians to bring our employees back to where they belong.

Here, at work.

Full time, with full salary, answering calls, checking vitals, refilling medications, and wishing people well.

Our loan is still pending, but we don’t have to wait. For the next 2 weeks we can work with a majority of our medical assistants and office staff.

Our physicians, PAs, NPs, and managers have all agreed to wait for full pay until our practice is stable again. And because this gift made resuming our work possible, we expect that will be soon.

We were in danger, but our patients answered the call and brought hope.

Now they know how that feels.

It reminds me why I became a physician.
