Family Physicians are hard to replace.

It takes at least 11 years after high school to become a family physician. And for me, about 32 more years of experience to become a good one. I’m still learning.

Family Physicians are hard to replace.

Not many medical students want a family doctor job anymore.

For the last 20 years, less than half of the available Family Medicine residency positions have been filled by American M.D. graduates, only about 1500 each year.

That’s only 30 M.D.’s/year for each state.

There are many reasons that our best and brightest don’t choose this job anymore. But that discussion is for a later post.

The thing is.... I did choose this job.

I’ve dedicated my life to this noble profession.

I love it. Well... ok, truth is it’s the patients I love, but it’s this job that allows me to serve them.

You may want to replace me, and I’ve been told that a few do, but it’s not gonna be easy.

Which brings me to the handling of the PPP small business loan....

What the hell was our government thinking?
